The Challenge
As a rental and heavy machinery dealer, Contractors Sales, had two challenges:
1. Find a way to safeguard its rental fleet—mainly Link-Belt excavators and Hitachi (formerly Kawasaki) loaders.
2. Help customers who work in the bridge, building and construction industry add a level of protection to other equipment with hydraulic cylinders not purchased from Contractors Sales. Many customers work in quarries or on sensitive job sites such as rivers may have to pay fines for hydraulic or fluid leaks.
The Solution
Each machine in Contractors Sales rental fleet was prepped with a Seal Saver boot to protect the company’s machines and investment. A practice that has become standard for all rental equipment.
Contractors Sales also worked with customers to ensure they received the custom-built Seal Saver needed for their aftermarket equipment.
The Results
In the more than 10 years since Contractors Sales started using Seal Saver protective boots on their machines, they’ve never had to replace a hydraulic cylinder cover because of the durability of the material. Said Ken Murray, Jr. Parts Manager, "The cost of a Seal Saver is far less than rebuilding a cylinder or even the cost of a service call from a mechanic. It’s our "insurance policy".
Customers have not only been able to protect their equipment, but in the event of a leak, the Seal Saver is able to contain and absorb the oil, preventing any spills and contamination. They’ve become believers in the product and won’t purchase any new equipment without a Seal Saver.
Murray, Jr. added, "It’s a day and night difference when inspecting a cylinder rod machine that has a Seal Saver versus not having one. It’s easy to install and only takes about 10 minutes."
